Tea and Jam!?
Collaboration with Yann Seznec
An Invitation to have a cup of tea and explore a sound table
2006-2009
Interactive sound table collaboration with my friend and fellow sonic explorer in rhythm and sounds, Yann Seznec.
Using Arduino, Max/MSP and wide variety of switches, sensors, a lot of wires, soldering and live sampling we decided to create sonic tea table were two people might meet and invite you to have a cup of tea (yes we served hot tea! and “jam” with your live sound environment. We happily spent as much time as we could playing around with ideas and recording loads of sessions
For the interactive installation, we left some spoons and small metal bowls on the table - microphones triggered by champagne corks switches, LED switches & LDR sensors and little mixing desks with faders you would record and manipulate the sound through a series of delays, compression, filtering, granulation & speed! Lots of easily accessible ways of encouraging community spirit in music making and a shared fascination in sound!
We had great fun regularly exploring mad creative ideas, soldering wires, enabling/programming max patches in maxmsp to interesting and fun effect, always on the edge of some next level idea…
We performed it several times most notably at the Chai Serai Cafe in Cowgate Edinburgh and Edinburgh University Alison House 2005-2007
